highlights
  • Author & Inventor of The Habit Factor® (book and app, 2009 – present): Renowned worldwide for his innovative contributions to habit development and goal achievement theory
  • Instructor, Master-Level Executive Coaching: Teaches original course curriculum on behavior change, habit formation, personal transformation, and goal achievement.
  • “Father” of the Modern Habit-Tracking Movement: In 2009, Grunburg introduced the world’s first habits-to-goals tracking app, helping to reinvent and revolutionize goal achievement via his P.A.R.R. habit development methodology.
  • Introduced the P.A.R.R. Habit Development Methodology: A pioneering framework that stands for Plan, Act, Record, Reassess. Introduced over a decade ago, P.A.R.R. distinguishes itself from the traditional Cue, Routine, Reward “Habit Loop” model, which is based on rodent studies. P.A.R.R. leverages the uniquely human capacities of choice, intention (planning), and reflection (reassessment).
  • Creator of the “Behavior Echo-System (Grunburg Behavior Model): An innovative, dynamic behavior model contextualizing human behaviors living within an “echo-system.” This behavior model reveals how energy and information constantly reverberate – echo – to influence one’s feelings/emotions, behaviors/habits/skills, thoughts/stories and environment.
  • Author of The Pressure Paradox® (2015) and EVERYTHING is a F*cking STORY (2022): International Book Award Finalists completing the personal development trilogy which began with The Habit Factor®.

biography

MARTIN is the visionary author behind The Habit Factor® (2010), a bestselling book and app that spearheaded the modern habit-tracking movement, specifically for goal attainment. His contributions to behavior design include P.A.R.R., a habit development methodology, and the “Behavior Echo-System.” A behavior model which reveals how both goal achievement and personal transformation are influenced by one’s environment and their personal narratives (stories) within a perpetual behavior “echo-system.”

In 2011, Martin was invited to share his groundbreaking insights on goal achievement and habit development in the United Arab Emirates. His presentation along with the book and app positioned him as a key innovator and thought leader in the personal development domain. His work has been featured in major publications, including The New York Times, Lifehacker.com, Mashable.com, and CNet.

Community Work/Philanthropy
Martin served on the board of San Diego Big Brothers Big Sisters (2006–2016) and was a dedicated volunteer “Big Brother” mentor for 15 years. He also taught “Success Skills” to high school students in underprivileged communities as a Junior Achievement volunteer instructor.

Personal
A passionate waterman, Martin enjoys surfing, sailing, and kite-surfing. He has completed the grueling 32-mile open-ocean Catalina Classic paddleboard race multiple times and has participated in various full Ironman-distance triathlons, including one in France.

His personal development trilogy, formulated over approximately 15 years, concluded with EVERYTHING is a Fcking STORY* (2022). This work presents a new understanding of human behavior, revealing how everyone operates within their unique, dynamic, and perpetual “behavior echo-system.”
