BUD is a seasoned corporate leader and consultant who built and led high performance project teams for Fortune 500 companies for over 30 years. Bud holds a Master of Science Degree in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from the University of Illinois in the USA and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Auburn University, also in the USA.

Bud has a distinguished career working for multi-nationals, namely Harris Corporation in the USA, and Tyco International in the USA and China.  Starting his career as an engineer, Bud then moved to project and engineering management for Harris Corporation.

During his tenure at Harris, Bud’s teams designed and developed communications systems for the US Army, solar concentrators for NASA, and high precision spacecraft antennas for the Department of Defense.

At Tyco, Bud had progressively higher management roles leading to an assignment to open a newly established Center of Excellence (CoE) in Shanghai, China.  Bud grew the CoE to over 100 engineers within 4 years.  Bud established high standards of engineering, including Total Quality Management product design and development, Design for Six Sigma methodologies, supplier qualification program (SQP), and collaborative New Product Introduction (NPI) to manufacturing.

During Bud’s tenure, new product introductions resulted in $35M+ incremental revenue in China and the Emerging Markets.  25+ new Chinese suppliers were qualified for production. Value Engineering (VE) projects netted $3M+ in manufacturing savings.

Bud grew a multi-functional engineering team, including Project Management, Electronics, Firmware, Mechanical, Quality Assurance, and Sustaining Engineering.  Bud managed the product and technical road map, and ensured the successful implementation of the Tyco Emerging Markets strategy.

Bud created and implemented the R&D engineering hiring plan.  He established employee Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the organization and employees. Bud strived to continually developed employee capability, skill and core competencies.  Bud implemented career ladders and awards programs for the Shanghai COE.

Bud worked step in step with global manufacturing sites for NPI, manufacturing lean process improvements, quality defect and scrap reductions, and new supplier and component qualification.  He had technical responsibility for all product and process improvements and deviations in production in China.

While in Shanghai, Bud was a guest lecturer for the prestigious Shanghai Jiao Tong University Chinese Leaders for Manufacturing joint MBA/Manufacturing Leadership program. Bud is a Certified Coaching and Mentoring Professional®, Facilitator, and Corporate Trainer working with multi-nationals across Asia.
